I’ve seen lots of documents regarding upgrading to BS 5, all seem to only support upgrading from earlier version4 containerised builds. I have 4.4 and 4.5 non-containerised instances, can anybody point me in the direction of any supporting documents that detail upgrade procedure. Or, do I install the new version and migrate the data ? any help appreciated.

Yes, please install the current Version then migrate the data.
